Welcome
to Hunger Action Network’s Emergency Food Program Directory
Hunger Action
Network works with nearly 3,000 Emergency Food Programs throughout
New York State that provide free food to hungry New Yorkers. The
most common type of food programs are food pantries and soup kitchens.
Food Pantries (FP) provide low-income families
and individuals with bags of free food to take home and prepare
themselves. Soup Kitchens (SK) provide people with
free meals that are already prepared and are consumed at the soup
kitchen site. Some food programs only serve certain categories of
people, such as children, seniors, or people living in a certain
area. Some programs require that you bring ID or other information
with you. Therefore, please call to obtain this information before
you go the program.
Our Emergency
Food Program Directory allows you to find a food program in your
area using your county or zip code. The directory includes food
programs outside of New York City only. For a list of programs in
New York City, please call the NYC Hunger Hotline at 1-866-888-8777
or contact the Food Bank for NYC at 212-566-7855 or go to their
website at http://www.foodbanknyc.org/index.cfm?objectid=46953F29-C09F-0662-D219141E04439B81
PLEASE
NOTE: Food programs often change their hours or days of
operation or even temporarily close down, and this directory may
not have that updated information. Therefore, you must contact the
program to check the information before you go to request food or
refer people to a program.
